Sensitivity to Human Activities
In the previous section there has been a discussion of the sensitivity
of CFT species and communities to changes in the natural environment. The environment may
also be changed as a result of human activities - anthropogenic impact - and one of the
concerns of management is to distinguish the two. There are two broad categories of human
impact which can affect natural communities. One is the addition of substances to the
environment, broadly classified as pollution. The other is human activity in
the marine environment, such as fishing and diving. The two will be considered in turn.
However, not all human activity is necessarily negative in its impact on CFTs - see
section E.
Pollution
Eutrophication
