Development of regional bait collection management
strategies
As noted above, any regulation
or restriction of collection activity, whether by
commercial or recreational bait diggers, has possible
implications for other sources of bait at least
100 miles away. Any regulation of bait collection
must therefore be considered not within a single
site, but on a regional basis. It is recommended
that regional networks of site managers should be
established to consult with national and regional
angling representative groups and professional collectors
on the implications of proposals to regulate this
activity.
