Review of historical information
A review of historical information on the site
is suggested as an important study should assessment
of biological features, activities, and water quality
parameters, to which such features may be sensitive,
give cause for concern or require further investigation.
For most lagoon sites, there will be little or no
published information. For unpublished information,
the following should be contacted as a first step:
- for biological information on species or communities
of conservation importance, as well as communities
likely to affect them - local and national conservation
agencies, local wildlife or naturalist groups,
local authorities and in some cases information
held at local and other Universities or Colleges
or marine laboratories or institutes;
- for information on water quality and on hydrographic
and physical aspects of the site - Environment
Agency (EA) or Scottish Environment Protection
Agency (SEPA), local authority or local water
company, and in some cases information held at
at local and other Universities or Colleges or
marine laboratories or institutes.
